WILD WHACKY WINE TRAIL – Wine in the Wild!
Get ready for the ultimate social trail run where it’s time to sip, sweat & celebrate! We’re swapping the serious, ultra-competitive race vibes for a festive, premium escape into the private Mt Savannah Nature Reserve, nestled in the historic Cradle of Humankind. With entries strictly limited to 350 participants, this is an exclusive, intimate experience you won’t want to miss so whether you’re a seasoned trail blazer looking for a rugged challenge or a casual walker who is purely in it for the vino, this is your perfect Saturday session.

15km – R390 pp, 06:30. A diverse, rugged push for the bold.
10km – R370 pp, 06:40 / 06:50. The perfect balance of burn and beauty.
5km – R350 pp, 07:00 / 07:10 / 07:20. A shorter, breathtaking scenic loop.

Registration: Opens from 05:30 AM. The first briefing starts at 06:20 AM sharp for A Batch.
Schedules & Batches: To keep the trails exclusive and pristine, we depart in batches of 50 people every 10 minutes.

The Venue & Your Trail “Co-stars”: Nestled within the Mount Savannah Game Reserve in the historic Cradle of Humankind, Sibani Lodge offers an idyllic wilderness escape defined by sweeping grasslands, ancient acacia trees, and dramatic views of the surrounding Zwartkops Mountains. This tranquil sanctuary boasts an untouched African beauty where visitors can enjoy stunning golden sunrises over expansive savannah plains and watch wildlife gather around the local watering holes. As you explore the trails, you can expect incredible sightings of majestic giraffes, zebras, kudus, impalas, sables & waterbucks, all sharing the landscape with a vibrant variety of indigenous birdlife.
The Terrain: A 3/5 rated challenge through magnificent open savannah plains. These are fairly fast and flat routes, great for getting the heart rate up.
The Locals: Keep an eye out for giraffe, kudu, impala, blue wildebeest, zebra, and vibrant birdlife sharing the trails with you!
*** The Essentials:-
Strict Cut-Off Time: Because we are running in a fully functional private game reserve, we have a strict 2.5-hour cut-off from the first batch. All participants must be off the trails by 09:00 AM for the safety of both runners and wildlife.
Timing: Self-timed. Record your run on your own device and toss your wristband into the bucket at the finish to enter the Lucky Draw. Times will be published online so you can submit them for your Discovery Vitality points!
Crossing the finish line is just the warm-up for your Saturday! Once you’ve conquered the trails, kick off your running shoes and head over to the “Pace Village”. As you unwind, dive into The Wine Feast, featuring pours from at least 6 premier vineyards. It’s the ultimate reward for a trail well done.

Walkers / hikers are more than welcome to join us on the 5km & 10km routes
Cut off time is 02h30 hours from first batch – finishing field 09h00 ***

There will be No Refunds due to rain or lightning cancellation
No licence is necessary to take part in the run
Minimum age of 18 years to partake in any of the wine tasters
All athletes participate at their own risk

Refreshments table available at various points including water / coke
Note: Late entries on the day will be charged an additional R30 per person (subject to availability should the event not be sold out…)
Other Information: Tea/Coffee will be available before the trail and there will be a pop up restaurant & fully stocked bar available after the trail.
Your safety is our number one concern. Whilst so much has changed, some things will thankfully still stay the same. We will continue with our exclusive & intimate trail runs in some hidden away valley and runners can be rest assured that your safety remains our absolute priority.
Withdrawal, Substitutions, Roll-overs:
All entry fees for the Event are non-refundable / non-transferable under all circumstances permitted by law, including, but not limited to, cancellation of the Event for any reason including withdrawal of your participation in the Event, or change in the date, nature, or format of the Event.
7 days and more prior to the event, refunds or roll-overs are permissible at the sole discretion of the organizer and based on medical grounds only. For refunds, an administration fee of 25% will be applicable. Alternatively, roll overs are valid for a maximum of 3 months with a maximum of one date change. If the participant does not, for any reason utilize the entry within 3 months, their entry will no longer be valid nor refunded.
0-6 days prior to the event, NO refunds or roll-overs are allowed, however substitutions are permissible at any time leading up to the event. Kindly ensure you email us on explore@wildafricaexperiences.co.za in order to assist further.
You acknowledge that the Event may be cancelled or changed due to government directives, severe weather or any other factors that may be considered to threaten the safety of participants as determined by the Event organiser in its sole discretion. We have always strived to deliver on each & every event but due to the nature of our activities, some natural elements are out of our hands. Unfortunately, there is a no refund policy on bookings due to rain or lightening.
