General Information Venue:
The trail starts along the banks of the Crocodile River, the first two and a half Km’s are good jeep track, with beautiful views over the river as you gradually start to climb. As the dam comes into view, this is where you will notice a hill on your left-hand side, yup …that one! 5km will start making their way back whilst the 8km and 10km take on the challenge. You start an ascent on a somewhat rocky jeep track and it becomes a bit more technical as you approach the summit, but that DAM view is worth it! You’ll make your way along the ridge taking in the views both of dam and river. Fresh country air is a given, a challenge – yes, and the reward… a beautiful “jam jar” glass with a “R& R” fill afterwards! The venue is situated right on the banks of the crocodile river, so bring a picnic blanket for down time afterwards.
Routes: The routes will all be well marked & signed by Wild Africa Experiences, so a somewhat challenging but relaxed morning out. We’ve rated the route 3.5/5 for the 6km routes and closer to a 4/5 for the 8km & 10km trails (5 being the most difficult). There will be two water-points for those doing the 8 & 10km routes, with one water-point for the 5km route. Walkers / hikers are more than welcome to join us and we cater for all fitness levels.
Medals: Participants will receive a branded glass ‘Jam Jar’ at the finish line as your medal with a well deserved R&R cocktail (for those 18 yrs & older). You can also look forward to a chill zone with live music at the end. This setting is ideal for those who want to enjoy a rustic & relaxed morning on the river bank.
