A Rustic, Intimate Bush Getaway & Trail Experience
Escape the city and immerse yourself in the heart of nature. Nestled within the rolling Bankenveld grasslands just outside Bronkhorstspruit, Ezemvelo Private Nature Reserve offers an exclusive, intimate sanctuary where nature reigns supreme. Whether you’re joining us for Saturday’s Sunrise Trail or immersing yourself in our full Soul2SOLE weekend retreat, expect some magnificent trails, exceptional wildlife, incredible hospitality, and true Wild Africa Experiences vibes.

Kick off your weekend with an unforgettable morning on the trails surrounded by roaming Zebra, Eland, Black Wildebeest, Blesbok and so much more;
Ochna Trail 21km – R390 pp
Protea Trail 15km – R370 pp
Acacia Trail 10km – R350 pp
Burkea Trail 5km – R330 pp
Cap: Strictly limited to 300 day entries to preserve our signature exclusive, low-impact experience.
Day Entry Includes: Finisher Medal (an exclusive branded wine glass) with a complimentary wine tasting; fully stocked water-points, access to well-marked trails, reserve fees, on-site medical support, professional event photographer, secure parking and a true Wild Africa Experience!
The Post-Trail Celebration (Pace Village): The finish line is just the beginning of your Saturday session! Once you’ve defeated the trails, drop your wristband for our virtual lucky draw (great prizes up for grabs so everyone has a chance!), and head straight to the lawns where you can kick back at our ‘Pace Village’. This will include a beer tent, gin on tap as well as a wine tasting so time to put your feet up & relax to some great tunes. A pop-up restaurant will be available and you get to soak up the true Wild Africa Experiences vibe in the heart of nature.
Note that numbers are strictly limited, not only due to the impact on the Reserve but because we like to keep these trails exclusive & intimate!
Soul2SOLE – Weekend Retreat (Fri 20 – Sun 22 Nov):
Transform your run/hike into a weekend getaway! Unplug from the rush & reconnect around the fire under starry bushveld skies. Limited Availability / First Come, First Served. Non-Refundable Retreat Deposit: R1,000 per chalet or tented camp / campsite to hold your spot. The remaining balance to be settled via EFT with 48 hours of receipt of final invoice and only then will your spot be secured.
The Experience Includes:
– 2 Nights accommodation in the reserve + daily reserve fees
– Friday night sundowner hike
– Extraordinary fireside dinners around the bonfire (Fri & Sat)
– Saturday’s Race Entry & Pace Village Festivities including a wine tasting & light lunch session after the trail
– A starry stargazing session with a curated spirit selection on Saturday night
– Secret Sunrise trail on Sunday followed by a hot breakfast & a cool morning dip before packing up
– Wild Africa Experiences goodie bag
Accommodation Options:
1 Bedroom Chalets: 8 Thatched, open-plan units sleeping 2 with en-suite shower, kitchenette, and private braai. (6 rooms accommodate a third person, supplement available on request). R4500 per person sharing. Single supplement on request.
2 Bedroom Chalets: 7 Thatched 2 bedroom units sleeping min/max 4 pax. R4220 per person sharing.
Meru Tented Camp: 20 Permanent safari canvas tents with beds (shared ablutions). Up to 6 single beds per unit. min 2 pax. R4280 per person sharing (based on 2 pax), R3780 per person sharing (based on 4 pax).
Caravan & Camping: 50 Powered stands near the dam with clean ablution blocks (bring your own tent/gear). R3880 per person
Saturday Trail Schedule:
Registration: Opens from 05:00 AM
First Briefing: 05:50 AM sharp for A Batch.
Start Format: Batches of maximum 50 runners departing every 10 minutes from 06:00 AM.
Cut-Off: 04h30 from Batch A. Due to the nature of the venue & game rangers on site, there is a hard 04h30 hour cut off from batch one, ie 10h30. If we feel any runners might not make it, we will be rerouting you.
Self-Timing & Discovery Vitality: In line with our experiential ethos, runners/hikers record their own timing using personal devices. Upon crossing the finish line, drop your wristband into the collection bucket for the virtual lucky draw and write down your time at the timing zone if required. Final results will be published on our website during the week for Vitality submission.
Routes: Runners share the 4,500-hectare reserve with exquisite roaming wildlife including zebras, eland, black wildebeest, blesbok, and numerous bird species against a Bankenveld grassland backdrop. Expect a combination of smooth gravel district roads, flowing jeep tracks, and occasionally rocky single tracks with seasonal mud near riverbanks. Wild Africa Experiences have rated the routes a 3/5 (5 being the most technical). All routes will be marked but GPX files will be available the day before.
The Post-Trail Celebration:
Pace Village: The finish line is just where the fun begins! After taking on the trails, head straight to the lawns at our Pace Village to soak in the atmosphere.
Finisher Wine Tasting: Present your voucher for your complimentary tasting in your new branded glass (18+ only).
Chill Zone: Kick back to great music, enjoy craft gin on tap, or grab a cold one at the beer tent (charged on consumption)
Pop-Up Bush Restaurant: Delicious food offerings available on-site all morning.
Virtual Lucky Draw: We celebrate participation over podiums! Drop your wristband at the finish line to enter – everyone has a chance to win awesome prizes.
Important Participant Information:
Tread Lightly: We honor our footprint, please carry out all trash.
Age Limit: Wine tasting and alcohol sales strictly for participants aged 18 and older.
On-the-Day Entries: Additional R30 surcharge applies for late registrations (subject to availability should the event not be sold out).
Safety & Weather: All athletes participate at their own risk. Event runs rain or shine; no refunds for weather cancellations.
Facilities: Full toilet facilities available at the start/finish area.

General Information:
A pop up Tea/Coffee station will be available before the trail and there will be an optional runners breakfast available after the trail. For those joining us for the weekend’s programme, the full programme, itinerary & costs will be mailed shortly. Watch this space.
Your safety is our number one concern. Whilst so much has changed, some things will thankfully still stay the same. We will continue with our exclusive & intimate trail runs in some hidden away valley and runners can be rest assured that your safety remains our absolute priority.
Withdrawal, Substitutions, Roll-overs:
All entry fees for the Event are non-refundable / non-transferable under all circumstances permitted by law, including, but not limited to, cancellation of the Event for any reason including withdrawal of your participation in the Event, or change in the date, nature, or format of the Event.
7 days and more prior to the event, refunds or roll-overs are permissible at the sole discretion of the organizer and based on medical grounds only. For refunds, an administration fee of 25% will be applicable. Alternatively, roll overs are valid for a maximum of 3 months with a maximum of one date change. If the participant does not, for any reason utilize the entry within 3 months, their entry will no longer be valid nor refunded.
0-6 days prior to the event, NO refunds or roll-overs are allowed, however substitutions are permissible at any time leading up to the event. Kindly ensure you email us on explore@wildafricaexperiences.co.za in order to assist further.
You acknowledge that the Event may be cancelled or changed due to government directives, severe weather or any other factors that may be considered to threaten the safety of participants as determined by the Event organiser in its sole discretion. We have always strived to deliver on each & every event but due to the nature of our activities, some natural elements are out of our hands. Unfortunately, there is a no refund policy on bookings due to rain or lightening.
