LIONS BY LANTERNS Night Trail II – Under African Skies
Fri, 12th August 2022. 5km, 10km
Exclusive Trail Running in a Private Nature Reserve. Limited to 250 Entries.

10km – R270 pp
5km – R250 pp
Children under 12 years – R150 pp
Entry Includes : Finisher Medal (a branded glass followed by a complimentary ice cold beer after the trail under a full moon)… fully stocked water-points, exclusive access to well-marked trails, trail fees, game rangers on route, medical support, boma style restaurant & full bar onsite (including optional gluhwein) along with a bon fire or two adding to a true Wild African Experience! Note : Whilst the routes are different to that of our daylight trails and largely on jeep track, head torches are mandatory for all runners.
Start Time / Batches:
60 pax will depart every 10 min
18h00 / 18h10 10km batch
18h20 / 18h30 5km batch
Numbers are strictly limited due to the impact on the Game Reserve & covid regulations will apply
Registration: 60 minutes prior to batch start, open from 17:00pm (First briefing at 17h50 sharp)
Lucky Draw: As our ethos is around Experiences, we don’t do prizes for placings however a lucky draw with some great prizes will take place after the run so everyone has a chance!
Timing: Runners are required to record their individual time using their own devices if desired. Timings will be published on our website a few days after the run for those who might wish to submit these to medical aid. Once you cross the finish line, please submit your wrist into the bucket for our virtual lucky draw.
General Information Venue:
This is a majestic venue located on the banks of the Crocodile River & right on your door-step. It’s a privately-owned game reserve so you get to explore over 1000-hecatres of wilderness.
Route – as there are no extreme climbs or immensely difficult terrain, Wild Africa Experiences have rated the route a 3/5 (5 being the most difficult). Note the routes will vary from our daylight trails and are largely kept to main jeep tracks / gravel road.
Participants will receive a branded glass as your medal at the finish line with a well-deserved beer on us (only for runners 18 or older).
*** Due to the nature of the venue, game rangers on site as well as being a night run in the Reserve, there is a strict 2 hour cut off beginning from A Batch starting time ie) 20h00
*** Runners are required to have their own head lamp on them – this is compulsory. If you do not have, Wild Africa Experiences can provide one for you at a cost of R250 which can be pre-ordered & collected at registration (please scroll down the drop down menu to order).

General Information :
Social distancing rules will apply at the water points as well as relevant covid protocols applicable at the time
Walking / hiking is allowed on the 5km route
Cut off time is 20h00 hours
Water points will be available at several points on the run

There will be No Refunds due to rain or lightning cancellation
No licence is necessary to take part in the run
All athletes participate at their own risk
Toilet facilities available at start / finish
Good secure parking available
Refreshments table available at various points including water / coke
Late entries on the day will be charged an additional R30 per person
Your safety is our number one concern. Whilst so much has changed, some things will thankfully still stay the same. We will continue with our exclusive & intimate trail runs in some hidden away valley and runners can be rest assured that your safety remains our absolute priority. Extensive COVID protocols have been implemented for the safety of both runners and staff alike. The number of runners will be limited (as per our norm) but face masks, sanitizers and distance controls may be enforced if necessary at the time of the run
Withdrawal, Substitutions, Roll-overs:
All entry fees for the Event are non-refundable / non-transferable under all circumstances permitted by law, including, but not limited to, cancellation of the Event for any reason including withdrawal of your participation in the Event, or change in the date, nature, or format of the Event.
7 days and more prior to the event, refunds or roll-overs are permissible at the sole discretion of the organizer and based on medical grounds only. For refunds, an administration fee of 25% will be applicable. Alternatively, roll overs are valid for a maximum of 3 months with a maximum of one date change. If the participant does not, for any reason utilize the entry within 3 months, their entry will no longer be valid nor refunded.
0-6 days prior to the event, NO refunds or roll-overs are allowed, however substitutions are permissible at any time leading up to the event. Kindly ensure you email us on explore@wildafricaexperiences.co.za in order to assist further.
You acknowledge that the Event may be cancelled or changed due to government directives, severe weather or any other factors that may be considered to threaten the safety of participants as determined by the Event organiser in its sole discretion. We have always strived to deliver on each & every event but due to the nature of our activities, some natural elements are out of our hands. Unfortunately, there is a no refund policy on bookings due to rain or lightening cancellation caused on the day. The Event organiser further reserves the right to refuse any entry or cancel any entry to the Event.
