WHISKY & WINE NIGHT TRAIL – Winter Trails in the Wild!

An Unforgettable Night in the Wild Awaits! Looking for the ultimate way to kick off your weekend? Join us for an exclusive night trail experience at the luxurious Kloofzicht Lodge & Spa. Whether you’re a seasoned trail runner looking for a unique challenge or a hiker wanting to soak up the moonlight, this event offers a rare opportunity to traverse a magnificent private wilderness after dark!
Distance & Entry Fee:
10km – R350 pp
5km – R330 pp
Entry Includes: A finisher “medal” (branded glass) followed by a well-deserved complimentary post-trail Whisky & Wine taster (18+) around the bonfire after the trail, fully stocked water-points, exclusive access to well-marked trails, trail fees, professional medical support and access to a boma-style pop-up restaurant & full bar onsite adding to a true Wild African Experience! Note : Whilst the routes are different to that of our daylight trails and largely on jeep track, head torches are mandatory for all runners/walkers.

Registration: 45-60 minutes prior to batch start beginning from 17:00pm (First briefing at 17h50 sharp)
Timings & Prizes: At Wild Africa Experiences, we value the Experience over the podium.
Prizes: No prizes for placing. Instead, we host a Lucky Draw after the trail so everyone has a chance! Winners will be announced on our social media platforms the following week.
Timing: Please record your own time on your device. After finishing, drop your wristband in the bucket for the Lucky Draw and record your time at the “Timing Zone” if you need it for Discovery Vitality Points. Results will be published on our website during the following week.
General Information Venue: This fabulously luxurious venue has abundant wildlife, beautiful settings across the dam, meandering trails & a stunning lodge facility so expect to be spoilt. Nestled at the foothills of the Zwartkops Mountains in the Cradle of Humankind, Kloofzicht overlooks six beautiful fly-fishing dams & the lower reaches of the Blaauwbank Spruit as it meanders through the unspoilt Zwartkops gorge. The intimate but magnificent nature reserve is home to kudu, impala, blue wildebeest, eland, red hartebeest, springbuck, gemsbok, zebra as well as a fascinating array of bird life. Entries are limited to only 250 runners so please book soon to avoid disappointment.
Route: as there are no extreme climbs or immensely difficult terrain, Wild Africa Experiences have rated the route a 3/5 (5 being the most difficult). Note the night trail routes do vary from our daylight trails & are largely on jeep track. Walkers / hikers are more than welcome to join us on both routes.
Participants will receive a branded glass as your medal at the finish line with a well-deserved Whisky or Wine taster (only for runners 18 or older).
*** Due to the nature of the venue, game rangers on site as well as being a night run in the Reserve, there is a strict 2 hour cut off from batch one, ie 20h00
*** Runners will be required to have their own head lamp on them – this is compulsory.
General Information :
Walkers / hikers are more than welcome to join us on 5km routes
Cut off time is strictly 20h00 hours for reserve gates but you are welcome to stay & relax at the restaurant afterwards

There will be No Refunds due to rain or lightning cancellation
No licence is necessary to take part in the run
All athletes participate at their own risk

Refreshments table available at various points along the run including water / coke
Late entries on the day will be charged an additional R30 per person

Your safety is our number one concern. Whilst so much has changed, some things will thankfully still stay the same. We will continue with our exclusive & intimate trail runs in some hidden away valley and runners can be rest assured that your safety remains our absolute priority
Withdrawal, Substitutions, Roll-overs:
All entry fees for the Event are non-refundable / non-transferable under all circumstances permitted by law, including, but not limited to, cancellation of the Event for any reason including withdrawal of your participation in the Event, or change in the date, nature, or format of the Event.
7 days and more prior to the event, refunds or roll-overs are permissible at the sole discretion of the organizer and based on medical grounds only. For refunds, an administration fee of 25% will be applicable. Alternatively, roll overs are valid for a maximum of 3 months with a maximum of one date change. If the participant does not, for any reason utilize the entry within 3 months, their entry will no longer be valid nor refunded.
0-6 days prior to the event, NO refunds or roll-overs are allowed, however substitutions are permissible at any time leading up to the event. Kindly ensure you email us on explore@wildafricaexperiences.co.za in order to assist further.
You acknowledge that the Event may be cancelled or changed due to government directives, severe weather or any other factors that may be considered to threaten the safety of participants as determined by the Event organiser in its sole discretion. We have always strived to deliver on each & every event but due to the nature of our activities, some natural elements are out of our hands. Unfortunately, there is a no refund policy on bookings due to rain or lightening.
