General Information: Where rugged beauty meets R&R Time. Prepare for a true test of grit and a feast for the senses. This isn’t just a trail; it’s an ascent into the very heart of the Magaliesberg. If you are looking for a technical challenge that rewards every effort with priceless, 360-degree views of the Harties landscape, this is your call to the mountains. From forests at the baseline to the rugged peaks where you’ll soar alongside vultures, Run the Ridge is designed for those who find peace in the climb. Entries are limited to only 350 participants so make sure you book your entry soon.

Distances & Entry Fees: Whether you’re sprinting for the finish or strolling for the R&R, we have a route for every pace. (Walkers and hikers, we love having you on the trails and recommend the 6km or 9km route!). We’ll be heading out in batches of 50 to keep the trails serene. Registration opens at 06:30 departing from the Main Area this year. Please arrive at least 45 minutes before your batch starts. Full details & GPX files will be sent out a few days before the trail.

16km – R390 pp, 07:30. A diverse, rugged push for the bold.
12km – R370 pp, 07:40 / 07:50. The ideal challenge for those who want to summit & Run the Ridge.
9km – R350 pp, 08:00 / 08:10. The perfect balance of burn and beauty, including the summit.
6km – R330 pp, 08:20 / 08:30. A shorter, scenic loop perfect for a brisk morning walk or a light trail run.

Your Entry Includes: A finisher “medal” (a branded glass) with a legendary ice-cold R&R at the finish line, exclusive access to well-marked trails, trail fees, professional medical support with limited water-points due to access. The “Wild Africa” Vibe: A “chill zone” featuring live music, a professional photographer to capture your highlights, a pop up foodie truck, a NEW “pop up pub” on site and a festive atmosphere at our “Wild Africa Pace Village”!

The Experience: Expect a true Wild African Experience from start to finish. Finish your morning in our chill zone. With a cold R&R in hand and live music in the air, there is no better way to celebrate conquering the ridge. Are you ready to climb? Secure your entry for a morning of rugged beauty.

*** NOTE: There is a 3.5 hour cut-off from batch A (ie 11:00 AM) due to safety and ranger schedules. Please be mindful of this when you choose your distance. If we feel any runners/hikers might not make it, we may reroute you.

Routes & Hydration:
The Challenge: Rated 4/5 for technicality and ascent. It’s tough, it’s rugged, and it is absolutely worth it.
Walkers: Welcome on the 6km and 9km routes!
Self-Sufficiency: We strongly encourage all participants to carry their own nutrition and hydration. Because we are summiting the ridge, vehicle access is impossible.
Water Points: There are one to two back-up water points (distance dependant), so please ensure you are adequately prepared for a proper ascent.
Pristine Trails: Exclusive access to rivers, forests, and rocky outcrops in one of SA’s most exquisite settings.

Registration: Opens from 06:30am. First briefing at 07h20 sharp for A Batch.

Our Ethos & Lucky Draw: At Wild Africa Experiences, we reward the spirit of adventure rather than the clock. No podium prizes here! Instead, drop your wristband into the bucket at the finish line for a chance to win fantastic prizes. This will be done virtually and prize-winners are announced in the week.

Timings: Record your time on your own device. Log it at the “Timing Zone” and drop your wristband in the bucket for the draw. Results will be posted online for Vitality points the following week.

Medals: Participants will receive a branded glass as your medal at the finish line along with a well-deserved chilled R&R (for those who are 18 years & over). Don’t miss this trail & festival, it’s one to be conquered!

Walkers / hikers are more than welcome to join us on the 6km & 9km routes
Cut off time is 03h30 hours from first batch – finishing field 11h00 ***

There will be No Refunds due to rain or lightning cancellation
No licence is necessary to take part in the run
Minimum age of 18 years to partake in any of the R&R tasters
All athletes participate at their own risk
Toilet facilities available at start / finish
Good secure parking available
Refreshments table available at various points including water / coke

Note: Late entries on the day will be charged an additional R30 per person (subject to availability should the event not be sold out…)

Other Information: Tea/Coffee will be available before the trail and there will be a pop up foodie stall available after the trail. We encourage you to bring your picnic blankets and enjoy your time afterwards on the lawns.

Your safety is our number one concern. Whilst so much has changed, some things will thankfully still stay the same. We will continue with our exclusive & intimate trail runs in some hidden away valley and runners can be rest assured that your safety remains our absolute priority.

Withdrawal, Substitutions, Roll-overs:
All entry fees for the Event are non-refundable / non-transferable under all circumstances permitted by law, including, but not limited to, cancellation of the Event for any reason including withdrawal of your participation in the Event, or change in the date, nature, or format of the Event.

7 days and more prior to the event, refunds or roll-overs are permissible at the sole discretion of the organizer and based on medical grounds only. For refunds, an administration fee of 25% will be applicable. Alternatively, roll overs are valid for a maximum of 3 months with a maximum of one date change. If the participant does not, for any reason utilize the entry within 3 months, their entry will no longer be valid nor refunded.

0-6 days prior to the event, NO refunds or roll-overs are allowed, however substitutions are permissible at any time leading up to the event. Kindly ensure you email us on explore@wildafricaexperiences.co.za in order to assist further.

You acknowledge that the Event may be cancelled or changed due to government directives, severe weather or any other factors that may be considered to threaten the safety of participants as determined by the Event organiser in its sole discretion. We have always strived to deliver on each & every event but due to the nature of our activities, some natural elements are out of our hands. Unfortunately, there is a no refund policy on bookings due to rain or lightening.
