Run The Ridge – R&R Time

A challenging trail summiting the Magalies Mountains & recharging the soul. Limited to 300 Entries.

15km – R310 pp

Entry Includes: Finisher Medal (a branded crystal glass with a complimentary ice-cold & well deserved R&R at the finish line); chill zone in the forest, pop up foodie truck, limited waterpoints, exclusive access to well-marked trails, trail fees, medical support and a true Wild African Experience!
Start Time / Batches:
A maximum of 50 pax will depart every 10 min
07h00 / 07h10 15km batch
07h20 / 07h30 11km batch
07h40 / 07h50 8km batch
08h00 / 08h10 5km batch
Registration: 45-60 minutes prior to batch start, beginning from 06:00am (first briefing at 06h50 sharp for A Batch). Note : Registration & the start / finish will take place from the picnic area which is approx. 500m from the parking zone & pop up coffee station so please leave sufficient time.
Lucky Draw: As our ethos is around Experiences, we don’t do prizes for placings however a lucky draw with some great prizes will take place after the run so everyone has a chance.
Timing: Runners are required to record their individual time using their own devices if desired. Timings will be published on our website a few days after the run for those who might wish to submit these to medical aid. Once you cross the finish line, please submit your wrist band (with optional timing) into the bowl for our virtual lucky draw.
General Information Venue:
The trails at De Wildt offer breath-taking 360-degree views of the Harties landscape. You will begin in a magnificent dense forest & then climb to summit the Magalies Mountains where you’ll get to explore the Ridge on top & soar with the vultures. You’ll experiences a multitude of different fauna & flora, natural springs (in season) & endless views including Hartbeespoort Dam. It truly is a challenging trail & food for the soul.
Route: The route & ascent are technical & challenging (Wild Africa have rated these a 4.5/5 – 5 being the most difficult) but the scenery is enormously rewarding & hands down absolutely worth it. You will run through forests in the initial stage followed by a rugged scenery & views at the top which is certainly a sight to behold. Walkers / hikers are also more than welcome to join us & it promises to be a great morning out.
Special Mention : We strongly encourage all participants to carry their own nutrition & hydration for the entirety of the run. Due to the nature of the ascent & accessibility, we are extremely limited with access along this run and therefore ask participants to be self-sufficient. There are no vehicle access points up into these mountains but there will be 2 back-up water points. We urge runners to ensure you have adequate hydration.
Medals : Participants will receive a branded glass as your medal at the finish line along with a well-deserved ice-cold R&R on the house (only for runners 18 or older).

There is a guideline of 03h30 hours cut off time from the first batch start

Late entries on the day will be charged an additional R30 per person (subject to availability)
General Information:
For the early risers needing that caffeine fix, coffee / tea will be available for sale just next to the parking area pre the run before you walk the 500m to the registration & start zone. De Wildt Adventure Trails will also be selling soft drinks, water as well as boerewors rolls on the day.
Your safety is our number one concern. Whilst so much has changed, some things will thankfully still stay the same. We will continue with our exclusive & intimate trail runs in some hidden away valley and runners can be rest assured that your safety remains our absolute priority.
Withdrawal, Substitutions, Roll-overs:
All entry fees for the Event are non-refundable / non-transferable under all circumstances permitted by law, including, but not limited to, cancellation of the Event for any reason including withdrawal of your participation in the Event, or change in the date, nature, or format of the Event.
7 days and more prior to the event, refunds or roll-overs are permissible at the sole discretion of the organizer and based on medical grounds only. For refunds, an administration fee of 25% will be applicable. Alternatively, roll overs are valid for a maximum of 3 months with a maximum of one date change. If the participant does not, for any reason utilize the entry within 3 months, their entry will no longer be valid nor refunded.
0-6 days prior to the event, NO refunds or roll-overs are allowed, however substitutions are permissible at any time leading up to the event. Kindly ensure you email us on explore@wildafricaexperiences.co.za in order to assist further.
You acknowledge that the Event may be cancelled or changed due to government directives, severe weather or any other factors that may be considered to threaten the safety of participants as determined by the Event organiser in its sole discretion. We have always strived to deliver on each & every event but due to the nature of our activities, some natural elements are out of our hands. Unfortunately, there is a no refund policy on bookings due to rain or lightening
